All About Central Virginia Weather Station

Welcome to the Central Virginia Weather Station, located in Manakin Sabot, Virginia. This is just west of Richmond, Virginia. Our remote station is located on Pepper Creek, below Mathews CH, Virginia, on the eastern shore of the Mobjack Bay.

Important Dates:

October 1999 - Installed the CVWS home weather station, a Davis Weather Monitor II.

December 1999 - Central Virginia Weather Station went online for the first time as a personal website.

April 2000 - Installed the remote Northern Neck Weather Station. This was also a Davis Weather Monitor II.

October 2000  - Central Virginia Weather Station moved to its own Domain at www.cvws.net.

November 2000 - Both the CVWS and the NNWS joined the Weatherunderground Personal Weather Station Project. This project allows our data to be recorded and displayed on this site. To see a list of participating sites, please visit the Weatherunderground Personal Weather Station Project home page.

December 2000 - CVWS web site won a Golden Web Award for 2000-2001. This award is from the International Association of Web Masters and Designers. This award is presented to those sites whose web design and content have achieved levels of excellence and deserving of recognition.

January 2001 - Installed a Weather Webcam at the CVWS location.

June 2002 - Installed a Boltek StormTracker lightning detector powered with Lightning/2000 software.

July 2004 - NNWS was discontinued due to residence being sold. Announced plans to re-establish station in the spring of 2005 along the eastern shore of Mobjack Bay below Mathews, Virginia.

December 2004 - Replaced the older CVWS Davis Weather Monitor II station with a new Davis Weather Vantage Pro 2. Also made decision to purchase new Davis Vantage Pro 2 for the new installation of the MBWS in the spring of 2005.

January 2005 - CVWS installed new weather webcam. Replaced old inside, tripod mounted webcam with an outside Marshall Weatherproof Bullet Cam.

March 2005 - MBWS installed but not online due to lack of internet connection.

bullet

November 2005 - MBWS makes first appearance online after a Wild Blue Broadband Satellite interenet connection installed.
